is arguably the biggest of the casino software providers supplying
around 500 video slots (
) to online
casinos via download and their GameAssists and Quickfire no-download platforms.
Now, I have to get something off my chest here. I started on Microgaming slots
way back in 2004 and while I would say that they now provide the most comprehensive
range available online, with diverse features that pretty much
means there is something for everyone, I'd also add they release so many games
now - many of which are average at best - that not only is it hard it keep up with
what's good and what's not but one starts to develop an antipathy towards the new
releases.
As a result, I tend to play the older Microgaming slots now and spend a bit more time with
the games from other providers like the land-based
Novomatic slots or
on the
Playtech games. While there are undoubtedly some
fantastically addictive Microgaming slot games like (
Thunderstruck,
and Immortal Romance
are the first two that spring to mind) there are also a lot of games that frankly,
I haven't summoned up the enthusiasm to investigate. Part of this is down to games like
Playtech's
Marvel slots which
have set a new bar that a lot of other competing developers struggle to reach on every game.
But putting that minor gripe aside and getting back to the topic at hand, Microgaming's slots now
come in 3 flavours:
download and
instant play for PC and MAC players (
Instant Play only)
along with HTML5 mobile games with most of their licencees providing both PC options and many the mobile option for players.
In fact, when it comes to mobile slots, Microgaming are arguably the best current provider with a decent range: see this
list of Microgaming mobile slots for a
full resume (
or this list for other mobile casino games).
Although their games arent household names like those from IGT, Novomatic or WMS,
the standard of their mobile games is excellent and the mobile platform that Microgaming provide called Go
is arguably the easiest and most intuitive of all the mobile platforms so far released, with the possible
exception of Net Ents Touch...but personally I am not such a fan of the latters slot games to be honest.
I still dont think slot games on a smartphone are a great experience but these work very well on tablets.
The browser based slots tend to be less in number than on the download versions but the more popular slots
are invariably available in both formats, and the majority of the slots you see
here likewise. That said, I would recommend the download version of Microgaming casinos
just for range and choice.
