White Orchid: My Opinion
Anyone familiar with IGT's 1024 line Treasures Of Troy
will recognize the gameplay in their White Orchid slot
straight away as it's basically an identical game in all but theme. These are dubbed "Multiway Xtra" games, an extension of IGT's "Multiway" multi-payline concept also adopted by other software providers and re-badged (ie: Aristocrat's "Reel Power" in games like 5 Dragons
is the same sort of thing).
For those that aren't familiar with the Multiway concept, it essentially means that symbols pay left-to-right no matter where on each reel they appear. Some of the most popular online slots like Immortal Romance
and Thunderstruck 2
, both by Microgaming and several IGT games including Triple Fortune Dragon
use this concept but those are 243 ways to win games. White Orchid and Treasures Of Troy have an extra symbol on each reel and therefore have 1024 paylines. In between the two you have games like Siberian Storm
and the female-oriented Fire Opals
with 720 paylines. But that's another story.
The video shows you how the free spin feature on White Orchid works - you need the bonus symbol twice on reel 3 to trigger it. There is however one very interesting feature on the Multiway Xtra slots like White Orchid that needs explaining: every position on each of the 5 reels (20 in all) is a reel in it's own right. Theoretically, that means you can get a screenfull of the same symbol for some massive wins. Realistically, you have more chance of finding a White Orchid growing out of your left nostril but nonetheless, the potential is there and you can get some decent hits.
White Orchid and Treasures Of Troy are two games I'd recommend having a look at if you don't know them. They aren't what I would term "sticky" enough for me personally, despite the fact they spin fast and are quite fun but they have been popular in land-based casinos in the past, if less so nowadays.
